Bern and I went to view Kah Peng's art exhibition today (photos below). Some of his painting are quite marvelous. His are all landscape paintings of Malaysian and English heritage buildings, and some lovely scenic scenes. You could say his paintings are dreamy, idyllic and poetic. There is no 'chaos' or 'flaws' in it. They are serene and peaceful, each stroke predictive and guarded. Kah Peng is not like his paintings at all - in person he is glamorous, colorful, dramatic and noisy ;-) So, I do not know which is the 'real' Kah Peng...his paintings or himself? I like this painting, and I am booking it until I have enough money to pay for it! He is an enthusiastic artist who likes to explain about his work. Here he is again, telling a story behind every painting. We had to pose as some rich art collector contemplating whether we could part with out millions to have Kah Peng's painting in our homes... Moyuko in Malaysia Behind the Island, Penang. We call it 'Balik Pulau'. The word literally means just that: at the back of the Island. Moyuko goes to Kuala Lumpur... At the Islamic Art Museum in Kuala Lumpur... Going home to Penang, look at what we found at the bus station...
